Most months of the year, Austin Astronomical Society hosts a public star party at a state park, some months have star parties at two different state parks, and the first Friday of the month a party at Pflugerville’s 1849 Park. Yearly, Austin Under the Stars takes place at St. Stephen’s Episcopal School. All star parties are dependent on the weather; if the sky is cloudy, an alternative program may be available, while events are usually canceled if there is rain.
In order to ensure that everyone has a great (and safe) time, please check out the Star Party Etiquette. It details the “dos and don’t s” of night observing, including how to protect your eyes and how to keep the viewing field as dark as possible.
