The featured speaker for October’s meeting will be Rebecca Larson, from UT and Astronomy on Tap.

Rebecca Larson is a graduate student researcher and teaching assistant at the University of Texas at Austin Department of Astronomy. She holds a bachelor degree in business from San Jose State University as well as a double bachelor’s degree in Astronomy and Physics from UT Austin. In 2006 she received an associates degree in Modern Standard Arabic from the Defense Language Institute. This education aided her greatly as a Staff Sargent in the Air Force working as an Arabic Translator during her 6 years in service. Her current studies have her working in galactic and universal evolution following the first million years after the big bang through to modern time. Rebecca will be speaking on the research she is presently performing at UT as well as education at the university level in the 21st century.

Everyone is welcome to join us for the regular monthly AAS General Assembly meeting, held on the 2nd Friday each month. The meeting starts at 7:30 pm. The Practical Astronomy session begins at 6:30. You do not have to be an AAS member to attend this event.
