AAS is looking for leaders who are enthusiastic about what the Austin Astronomical Society brings to our community and can bring time and talent to our mission-oriented team that brings the stars and skies to our membership and the public.

As a member of AAS, you are part of a community that shares a passion for those stars and skies. You may have joined to have access to Members-only star parties and our observatory at the Canyon of the Eagles. Perhaps you also attend the Practical Astronomy sessions. Or enjoy the annual Austin Under the Skies party.

Behind every event and program are leaders and volunteers who work diligently to carry them out. They organize people and equipment, find speakers, work with venues large and small. And programs are just part of the picture. Our board also manages the Society’s many moving parts like membership, communications, and finances.

We are especially looking for individuals with an enthusiasm for public outreach and events, communications or marketing experience, financial or fundraising expertise, strategic planning or prior nonprofit board experience.

The Committee will accept your nominations up to the elections on April 7. Nominations also will be accepted from the floor at the April 7th General Assembly meeting.

If you would like to be a part of the team, and to appear on the slate of candidates sent to all members, you must send your nomination to nominate@austinastro.org by March 16th. The slate of candidates will be produced and sent to members on March 17th.
