New Practical Astronomy and General Assembly Meeting Nights in 2017

From our Vice President, Carl Lindemann:
The General Assembly in the New Year: Improving Access and Attendance
Despite the exciting programs and conviviality of fellow members that make up our monthly General Assembly, we typically see just a small number of our total membership on hand. What’s the cause? The sense from members is that the Friday time on the UT campus is problematic. So what’s a better night/location? For 2017, we will be applying the scientific method to see what’s better – and even what’s best.
First, we will determine if there’s a better time than our traditional Friday gathering. We will continue to meet at our usual location at UT, ETC Room 2.136. But for January, we will meet on Monday, January 9 at 6:30pm. For February, we will try a Tuesday (to be confirmed – likely the 7th). Then, in March, on a Wednesday. Will going earlier in the week improve attendance and access for members? Come see!
Once we determine which night is best, we will then try some different locations. Got any thoughts as to where we might gather, drop me a line. Of course, looking for something centrally located with the requisite A/V gear plus ample parking. Cheap, too, if possible! By Fall, 2017, we will hopefully be settling into a great new place and time so more can make the most of GA.
