Great News!
We have a new Dark Sky Site for the use of all members.
A porta potty is available on site. There is no power or water available so plan accordingly. So far no one has reported cell phone problems. This is Texas ranch land. You may encounter cattle on the road, driveway, and observing field. Cow patties can be found throughout the observing field. You may also encounter insects and snakes, including rattlesnakes, on the observing field.
Come on out and enjoy great observing with friends under dark skies.
If you have questions, please contact memberservices@austinastro.org.
Members’ access rights and responsibilities
We must always remember that this site is the private property of the land owner and we can use it for
the club only by their consent. Always take care to follow these few, very reasonable rules:
Members in good standing have access for:
• Members only star parties
• Non-public, members only astronomical observing
• Members may camp overnight in connection with such activities
Duties:
• Individual AAS members must first request access by email of their plan to observe and receive approval by the owner. This only applies if you wish to go out for private observing on a non-club sponsored night. Approval is not needed for attending Members Only star parties.
Prohibited Activities
• Discharge of firearms or fireworks
• Loud music
• Tampering with fences or gates
• Hunting of any sort
• Activities which materially interfere with owners use and enjoyment of his/her adjacent lands.
• No access to owner’s structures

• AAS members are responsible for closing and locking all gates when leaving
