Evenings at or near the full Moon, there may be a <em>Moonlighting<\/em> tour.\u00a0 Please note that these tours are subject to cancellation, if the sky is overcast.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the Austin Astronomical Society volunteer telescopes for viewing at many of the Wild Basin Astronomy Tours.\u00a0 Early visitors my want to visit the Solar Scope presentation on the observation deck just\u00a0west of\u00a0the main office.<\/p>\n<p>The Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve is\u00a0located on the east side of Capitol of Texas Hwy\u00a0(360) and about 1.2<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_177\" style=\"width: 220px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/aas.austinastro.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Michael-Schaffer-1a-e1449527744465.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-177\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-177\" src=\"http:\/\/aas.austinastro.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Michael-Schaffer-1a-e1449527744465-210x300.jpg\" alt=\"Courtesy, Michael Schaffer\" width=\"210\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/austinastro.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Michael-Schaffer-1a-e1449527744465-210x300.jpg 210w, https:\/\/austinastro.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Michael-Schaffer-1a-e1449527744465.jpg 357w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 210px) 100vw, 210px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-177\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Courtesy, Michael Schaffer<\/p><\/div>\n<p>miles north of the intersection of Bee Cave Road (FM2244); or about\u00a03.2 miles south of the 360 (Pennybacker) Bridge.\u00a0 If you are driving southbound on 360, there is a turn-around\/cross-over at the entrance to Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve.<span class=\"pp-headline-item pp-headline-address\">\u200e<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Wild Basin Astronomy Tours are usually full! Advance reservations are highly recommended. To make a reservation, phone Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve at (512) 327-7622. There are tour fees for\u00a0adults, seniors and students in grades K-12.\u00a0\u00a0Preschool children are admitted free and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over 18. \u00a0Proceeds benefit Wild Basin.<\/p>\n<p>We recommend that you bring with you\u00a0drinking water, a <u>small<\/u> flashlight, binoculars (if you have them), good walking shoes and perhaps something small to sit on while at the Overlook.
